Answer Me This {summer #1}

Answer Me This summer

1. Any big plans for the summer?

Road Trip!!!!!! Heading to Georgia in a little over four weeks. Spending nearly three weeks with family there. Topping off with my youngest brother-in-law’s wedding. Jared and I are both in the wedding, and so are my other sisters- and brother- in law. Between us we have five children (5 and under) who will be in care of….? I guess my mother-in-law during the actual ceremony. So that should be interesting.

High tailing it back to RI for my brother’s wedding the following weekend. Katherine and Karl are in that one {she is SO excited}.

In and around all that, I signed up to take an iconography class at our church. You guys. This will be the first thing I’ve done on my own/for myself (like legitimately) since before Karl was born. To say I’m excited would probably be an understatement!! 😀

2. What is the strangest thing you believed as a child?

For the longest time we believed that our airport was named after and was the home to the tooth fairy. (T F Green for those interested.)

Other than that I was a horribly practical no nonsense child. So very short on the weird childhood beliefs.

3. What is your favorite amusement park ride? (can be a specific one at a specific park or just a type of ride)

I stopped liking amusement parks somewhere around age 14. Don’t really know why. I don’t like roller coasters of any style, and any other thrill ride just isn’t my thing.

Ok, ok… if I have to chose something: A ferris wheel. Even though I’ve only been on one once.

4. What’s on your summer reading list?

My June list is tacked onto the end of my What I Read in May

My July list looks something like this:
* Style, Sex, and Substance
* 10 Ways to Destroy the Imagination of a Child
* The Little Oratory
* The Three Gifts of St Therese
* Voyager (Outlander, book 3).
* Any random books that pop up on the library hold list

That actually will probably hold me through August, because I’m feeling overly ambitious. Somehow I think I will have loads of time to read while we’re away in July.

5. Have you ever fallen asleep in public?

If buses count then: Yes.
Otherwise: No.

I spent three years of college commuting 45 minutes by bus (each way). Some of those, one semester in particular were super early. So, when you’re not in the habit of waking up before, say… 9:00 AM, and you have to be downtown by 6:00 AM in order to make the bus, then…… you fall asleep on the bus.

Oh, to be able to sleep till 9:00…

Did I ever tell you guys about the time when I realized, while pregnant with Katherine, that I wouldn’t ever be able to sleep in again? No? Ok, it’s short:

I woke up one morning, well along in my pregnancy. It was about 7:30 AM. I rolled over, looked at the clock, had some choice words for the hour of day, and stopped. Suddenly I realized that I was doomed to never sleep until 9:00 ever again.

My mind kept trying to come up with solutions like: Yeah, but there will be some time, like on vacation? “Nope” my evil rational mind said.

I ate breakfast, pretty much in despair.

But… I was right. I haven’t slept until 9:00 pretty much since that day. And you know what? It’s OK. I’ve gotten used to it. Still don’t like anything before 6:00AM, but I can live with that.

{sorry for the rabbit trail}

6. What is your favorite smell?

Just after it rains // freshly cut grass // new baby
