My Sunday Photo

I was trying to find THE photo to share from this week. And realized that I’ve shared most on good ol’ Instagram already… but… not this one from this evening’s bath shenanigans.

In truth: it’s been a really long week. Jared was sick at the beginning of the week and I was sick the later half of the week. And all the kids were/are sick to some degree. So just blah all around.

But, one thing I did think about…

There are no “sick days” in mothering. I mean, there are definitely days where you’re sick while mothering, but no days where you get the “lay in bed and sleep all day” option. At least not in my stage of motherhood. Maybe oneday…

As a Catholic, I hear a lot about carrying my cross, and right now, my cross is motherhood. Motherhood is also my vocation, and don’t get me wrong, I love it, but it’s also a cross. I really felt like I fell down this week under that weight. And then I remembered Jesus on His walk up the hill, He fell down too. But, He got back up and kept on going. And in that moment, I felt this life line being tossed. Like, it’s ok, we all fall down sometimes under the weight of… everything… the important thing, I think is to get up again. And keep going. {Even if you can’t talk to your kids, because your voice decided to give out…}

Sorry, guys, wasn’t trying to get all deep and depressing here tonight, it’s just what came out when I started writing.

But ending on a positive note we welcomed some new people into our extended families this week.. one by birth and one by marriage so life is overall Good. {Especially if you’re not quite two and mom lets you intentionally dump the water out of the tub}

Sun Flare

Ok, so I didn’t know Theme Thursday was coming came back until this morning. But can I say I’m so glad! It’s always been one of my favorite linkups 🙂

This week’s theme is Sun Flare. My photo was actually taken last night while attending a wedding reception. Obviously I didn’t *know* it was the theme of the week, but I always love a good sun flare photo so I tried to capture what I could. There was a little bit of editing (darkening a smidge, warming up just a tiny bit, and cropping out the line of cars on the other side of the bridge), but nothing crazy.

I think I’ll challenge myself to do next week’s prompt by bringing out my “real” camera, which has seen precious little use in the last few months.

My Sunday Photos {23 Nov 2014}

very teensy family update

We’ve had mostly chilly weather this week, so much of the time has been spent inside. We I got brave enough one day to go outside and snap a few photos. Most of the leaves are off the tree and they haven’t yet turned all brown and crunchy so we had a bit of fun. They especially enjoyed the posed throwing leaves up in the air shots (above).

Baby Zachary is now one month old (today!). I know I think this everytime and every milestone, but it honestly does seem like just yesterday he was born. Maybe it’s my lack of sleep. For some reason he has decided that late night in the wee hours of the morning are fine times for not sleeping, being held, not sleeping, eating…. and did I mention not sleeping? Last night was better, but more nights than not this past week have been vvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy long.

He had his 4 week checkup this past week. Up to 11lbs 1oz. I have already removed all 0-3 month clothing from circulation (they just don’t fit anymore). 3-6 mo clothing here we come!

Jared’s foot is much better (thank you Jesus!), so he can do things like…. walk again. 🙂

Other little ones are doing OK. Trying to work on things like “kindness” with them… and “honoring your father and mother”…. I guess I just thought some of those things were imparted to them with little effort from me, but alas that doesn’t seem to be the case. So I’m trying to be intentional with bringing up these topics and discussing them as they’re able. (Can you tell it’s been a trying week over here?).

Anyways, I’m off to dig up some of the Advent supplies from the attic while the older kids are out with my brother and a friend at a “jumpy house place”.
